Besides offering a range of luxury goods, Prada also periodically makes available in select markets a made-to-measure, or MTM, program for men’ apparel. At present, the service is offered in 48 of the brand’s shops across the globe. On the last weekend of September—from the 28th to the 30th—it will be available at the Prada Manila store.

Men’s items to be included in the MTM program are suits, coats, jackets, shirts and trousers. This means that such Prada products can be cut, sewn and tailor-fitted by expert craftsmen to suit an individual. As the brand puts it, the service combines “sartorial tradition with contemporary style,” and offers the client with more than 300 fabric options for suits and jackets, 30 choices for coats, and around a selection of 230 types of cloths for shirts.

For a client, the MTM process starts inside the store’s VIP room, from where his personal measurements and choice of fabric will be made. The next step is selecting the silhouette. If it’s for a suit, the range available are a classic fit (two- or three-button jacket, pleated or flat-front trousers); slim fit (two-button jacket with notch or peak lapels, and classic or patch pockets, and trousers with no pleats with side or slanted pocket. A waistcoat can also be made to match the suit); and fitted (less structured shoulders).

Options available for MTM coats are classic fit with two or three buttons, and double breasted with peaked lapels, any of which can come in exquisite and precious fabrics that include luxury cashmere, and Vicuna and Guanaco.

The MTM shirts can come in Prada’s archival prints, with a selection of three different fits, 10 collar styles, eight cuff styles and four monogram colors. These can have classic, slim and bowling fit, any of which also available with short sleeves.

Making a shirt takes about five weeks while suits and coats can take six weeks. Other bespoke details—like having a shirt monogrammed or adding a chest pocket—can be requested by the client who knows which style suits him best.
