Connected To The Sky

Frederique Constant gives us their latest in the Slimline Moonphase Manufacture.

The new watch comes in a 42mm case of either white or red, and the moon phase display at 6 o’clock adds a touch of skybound elegance. The moon phase display on any Frederique Constant watch is set up to be simple to use. It’s kind of charming, really. You have to consult a moonphase calendar, which may already be a new experience for most of us. (Do you know where the household keeps its moon phase calendar? I do not.) Then, you match the phase of the moon to your watch. You do this by pushing down the crown, and then moving it (downward) until the moon phase on your watch matches the night’s moon phase on the calendar. Once you’ve done that, you move the crown (upward this time) to set the date. And that is it. Your watch is now in sync with the Moon. If you’re feeling confident in your abilities, you could even forgo the moon phase calendar display and just go outside and look up. I’d recommend a clear night and a full moon when you try that, though.

Their new moon phase watch is powered by the FC-705, an in-house caliber that was designed, produced, and assembled by Frederique Constant. The new Slimline Moonphase Manufacture features delicate printed Roman numeral hour markers on a sunray silver-colored dial. The effect of the minimalist, elegant black hour indices against the silver is one of calm classic demeanor, with an unexpected sheen of brilliance underneath.
